Timeline

1916

This so-called, started in 1916... In the conference boards missionary in panama, Panama, listened to reports about the evangelical work in the countries of Latin America. And we identified the lack of education as the root of the injustices and inequalities. And even though Paraguay did not seem to be a priority, he was writing something great.

1917

In 1917, a committee travelled to the country, the same was sent for on-Site knowledge of the reality of Paraguay and to study the possibility of establishing works of service in the country.

1918

A year after, in 1918, Dr. Clement Morton, and his wife were sent to the Assumption, by the mission Board of the Church Disciples of Christ in Indianapolis. This, with the aim of starting the Work with a school, make new contacts, friends and get to know the customs and traditions of the country.

1919

During an International Convention of the Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Cincinnati, Ohio, Dr. Samuel Guy Inman —who had already visited Paraguay in 1917— exposed to the needs of the country, and caused the churches to act under the motto: “On to Paraguay.” Thus, the call rang again. In 1919, Clement Morton began the search for a place to start the mission and found an ideal property: the fifth Mongelós, two blocks of land, known today as “Old House”.

1920

01 march 1920, the International School opened its doors. 48 students. 5 degrees. A dream come true. To the front, was Clement Manly Morton, the first director. The new college was called the International School, in honor of the good relations between Paraguay and the united States of America.

1923

In 1923, he began the boarding school of girls, being the pioneer in coeducation.

1925

The year was 1925, when it was the first exhibition gymnastics in the Municipal Theatre, under the direction of professor Svand Orla Petersen, marking a milestone in the promotion of the sport.

1928

In 1928, it opened the first Building, named Allen Stone, consolidating the growth of the institution. The college took another step innovative at the start of the activities of the Kindergarten, the first of its kind in the country, marking the beginning of the formal Initial Education in Paraguay.

1929

The International, the first newspaper of the college, written and directed by the students themselves, saw the light in the year 1929, with its first edition. 1.Th of August of that same year, he organized the visit of a delegation from the American College, today, the Ward of Buenos Aires, which included a tournament of athletics, an oratorical contest and several social events. Thanks to this experience, the International College was motivated to boost the First Tournament Intercollegiate on the Assumption that brought together five schools, among them, the National Capital, San José, Birthday Talavera and the School of Commerce. Months later, in November of the same year, it inaugurated the Hall of the Building, Allen Stone, a scenario where, through the years, shone brightest talents in the works, presentations and assemblies unforgettable.

1930

It was opened on the girls boarding school in the Building, Mary Lyons, where now there is a library, George Wiley, Jr., named in homage to Mr. Wiley, who was director of the institution for many years.

1932

With the beginning of the Chaco War, twelve students of the college were mobilized for the war. The College was transformed into a blood hospital, and served to the needy. Creates the Commission on the Red Cross at the International College, creating other working committees as Commission mosquito Nets, Commission, Crafts, Commission Crops, thus helping to alleviate some of the needs during the war. Even in times of war, the Inter did not stop... That same year, he made the purchase of the Field of Sports “River Plate”, traditionally known as “Cancha Grande”. The volleyball and basketball were introduced to Paraguay by the International College.

1936

It is celebrated for the first time on the Day of the Roses In 1936, the International School was started by one of their traditions more iconic: the Day of the Roses. This solemn ceremony, created as a tribute to the students of the 3.er course, symbolizes his journey and academic staff within the school. The pink, delicate, and full of meaning, it represents the beauty of youth, which blossoms. Under the direction of Robert Lemmon, thirteen students participated in this first edition, giving origin to an act that, over the years, become one of the most anticipated by the educational community. It was inaugurated the iconic building of Frances Allen.

1940

The faith that he found a home... The year 1940 marked the realisation of a dream: the opening of the temple of the Christian Church Disciples of Christ, on the Avenida Peru. This was the tangible expression of a faith that had taken deep root in the land of paraguay. From that moment, the mission was not stopped. The church began to grow beyond Assumption, arriving to communities, as Cnel. Oviedo, Columbus, Villa Aurelia, Streams, and Swamps, Lambaré, a City in the East and Luque, among others. Church after church, that original vision of service, education and community was flourishing in different parts of the country. It all started with a school... and he became a living network of faith that continues to grow.

1943

Ran a 10 may 1943, when, in the assembly Hall, the founding of the Christian Association of Young people with the full support and active participation of managers, teachers and students. And in August of that same year, gave rise to the group of Chiroleras the Inter, the first in the country.

1944

Under the initiative of the teacher of Natural Sciences, Eugène Ogé of Morvil, he founded the Museum of Natural Sciences. A space dedicated to the awakening of scientific curiosity, promote the study of the environment and bringing the students to the natural wealth of Paraguay from an educational perspective and formative.

1945

Opened the Hobby Shop, where the students gave life to their ideas, applying what you have learned in various areas, combining art and technology. In addition, that year, The Angelus Student was held for the first time on 11 November. Since its origin, has had as purpose to give thanks to God for everything that each student has treasured throughout his step by the college, in their christian formation, intellectual, physical and social.

1948

After an intense search, in 1948 the missionary Disciples of Christ in Paraguay found a special place: 28 hectares of pure nature, a few kilometers from Caacupé, the way to Tobatí. This space so longed for, he was appointed Camp Jack Norment, in memory of the son of Malcolm and Arabelle Norment, two of the first missionaries in Paraguay. Since then, generations of students have lived there for unforgettable experiences, days of reflection, and recreation, and it is integrated in direct contact with nature and with God.

1952

In the heart of the neighborhood Pinozá, took a new step in the history of the Church Disciples of Christ in Paraguay, a temple was built and with it was born a new congregation.

1953

He was born officially, the Mission of Friendship and created the Alumni Association of the International College (ASECI).

1962

Opened a pioneering project: the First School Paraguayan Deaf

1966

Was the transfer of the administration of the college to national hands. 01 April 1966, the director George Wiley Jr. convened, for the first time, a meeting with the objective of constituting the Board of Directors. United by a commitment to, laid the foundations for the growth and the projection of the college in the years to come.

1967

A year later, the joy was felt in the community of INTER, with the opening of the swimming pool, which since then became a symbol of the sport. That same year saw the birth of “Rehearsing Our Pen”, the first magazine of the college, where students found a space to express themselves, create and reflect through the literature.

1969

It was founded in 1969, the Center of Students of the International College (CECI) with the purpose of engaging in the change of the society, to represent the voice of the students, promote active participation in the institutional life and strengthen the spirit of leadership, fellowship, and commitment inside and outside the classroom. That same year, in the month of may, the Literary Academy of the International College (ACALI), that had already existed before, it was officially rebooted as contained in The International, the magazine informative student. In addition to over the years were springing up of new academies, courses, and programs aimed at the integral growth of students, promoting the faith, the love of the neighbor, the art, the music, the scientific thought and technology, and the knowledge of history.

1972

The energy, the joy and the competitive spirit come together in one event: to be held for the first time in 1972 the Olympics Student Internal, both in Primary as in Secondary. A moment of union, effort and colors shared, which would become a tradition unforgettable.

1982

Opening of the first building to be fully funded by own funds, which meant a source of pride for the institution. Thus was born the Building Robert B. Lemmon. The Association of Parents of the International School, APACI, emerged in 1982, by strengthening the link between families and the school.

1983

With the commitment to train not only students, but conscious citizens and solidarity, born of the “Program of Volunteer Service to the Community”. Powered by the Lic Rosa Lina Paciello Cabrera, this project sought to bring youth closer to the social reality of his environment, motivating them to act with empathy, commitment, and generosity.

1985

In the year 1985, the innovation is present, with the creation of the Department of Computer Education. The college is well ahead of its time, integrating technology to the teaching-learning process and preparing their students for a world that is increasingly digital.

2003

Remodeling of the building Frances Allen.

2007

The Inter became the first college with a swimming pool ionized.

2013

Construction of the building by rev. George Wiley Jr.

2017

Foundation of the Club, Operation Smile, Inter, number 16 of Paraguay.

2018

Construction of the Promenade Inter Centennial.

2020

Re-opening of the Sports Complex-Cultural “Jarmila and Eugène Ogé of Morvil”. This work included the complete renovation of more than 1800 m2 of infrastructure and facilities, equipped with the necessary facilities for the practice of a wide variety of sports, performing acts of cultural, recreational, integration, and healthy recreation.

2022

Participation of students, teachers and alumni of the International School in the XII South american Games Assumption 2022.

2023

In 2023, a major accomplishment crown decades of work and commitment: the College of International obtained the Certification ISO 9001:2015 in the process of “Provision of Educational Services for early childhood Education, Education in Basic School and Middle Education”. It is the first institution of its kind in achieving this prestigious certification, reflection tangible commitment to excellence, continuous improvement and a quality education that transcends generations.

2024

This year opened with new initiatives that mark the innovation, and the role of student. We performed the First trade Fair of Mathematics International School, where logical thinking, creativity, and the resolution of problems to be lived with enthusiasm and active participation. Also blooms on a very special space: Radio Inter, a channel of expression, voice, and community that amplifies the feeling of students, teachers and families, reaffirming that learning is also about sharing what we are.
